BBC —The Psychological Tricks that Make Cults so Dangerous
A reel by the BBC provides a video overview of some (but not all) psychological tricks used by cults. Cult experts including Steve Hassan and Alexandra Stein are interviewed.
This video by Tui McLean, as described in the video description, examines “what a cult actually is, and how some cults have been able to make ordinary people do unthinkable things.”
I ask you (as a critically-thinking reader): if a cult can “make people do unthinkable things”, why are we still stigmatizing people who are in cults, and still suggesting that people “join” cults (which implies that they have some intent, or “will” to join these groups)?
